Sony Battery Part Number Identification

Sony is no longer making laptop computers or batteries for laptops. Original Sony batteries are getting harder to find and more expensive. If you buy an OEM Sony battery it is several years old at a minimum, and may not work at all. To find the model number on your Sony battery you should look for the letters “VGP-BPS” or “VGP-BPL.” BPS stands for battery pack small, and BPL stands for battery pack large. Often Sony laptops can use a small battery or a large battery in the same machine.
