This is a brand new Genuine Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Slice Battery. It is called a slice battery because it is so thin. It snaps onto the bottom of your X1 laptop providing a second battery for your X1 notebook. Since this base battery or slice battery is only designed for the 1st generation X1 ThinkPad, it perfectly matches the foot print of the laptop. This battery only protrudes 1/2 inch at the back of your laptop and tapers to just 1/8 of inch at the front of the laptop. The net effect is that the slice battery will provide a slight tilt of the laptop similar to a desktop keyboard, with the rear of the keyboard slightly elevated.

The Slice battery has rubber feet at the rear end and your laptop will not wobble as it covers the entire bottom of the notebook. If you use the docking station, the battery will need to be removed while you are docked as the battery connects to your laptop with the same connector the docking station would use. This battery only fits the first generation X1 Thinkpad. There is a 2nd generation X1 laptop called the X1 Carbon Touch.
